Cheer Up, Buttercup

Hey internet friends!

You know how you get your whole month planned out, scheduled, perfected? And then somehow it's the 31st of the month and at least half of the tasks you were to do have been left uncompleted? (If you have never experienced this please teach us your ways...)

I've been perfecting my self-love course - I decided it was more important to have it well done than to rush. That being said, I should have the course up and running very soon!

I was just in Los Angeles visiting my friend Madeline. The trip coincided with Madeline's birthday, as well as the one year anniversary of her partner, Drew's, death. It feels like a lifetime has passed, as well as no time at all since he died. Our hearts still ache, and our wounds are still raw. Suicide makes us feel an array of emotions - confusion, anger, helplessness... It's over forever and can't be taken back, even though we relive all the ways in which we could have helped in anyway.

To anyone who is suffering with suicidal thoughts; I care, I love you, please hold on.

It's not easy transitioning from such a heavy topic to discussing clothing, but fashion was an outlet for me when I've been at my lowest places emotionally.

I have been wearing my hair in pigtails pretty much everyday this summer. I have thick hair so whenever it's warm it feels like I'm wearing a fur hat (i.e. lots of sweatiness ensues).

These flamingo earrings are too good to be true.. Have you seen Doodad & Fandango's products? SO mind blowing!!! Each piece is super vibrant (a+), handmade (a++), and hella cute (a+++)!! Basically Doodad & Fandango is the top of their class. Obsessed. Make sure to check out their insta cuz all their posts are like... SO GOOD.

I am super stoked on this skirt from Chubby Cartwheelsone of the best plus size clothing shops, EVER. I'm a major fan of Chubby Cartwheels cuz they stock a variety of cute handmade pieces (in sizes 1X - 5X) and they're hella body positive!! What more is there to love?!

CLOTHES: Weird Crop Top - Tunnel Vision  ,  Retro Vision Skirt - c/o Chubby Cartwheels  ,  Smiley Socks - eBay (purchase same HERE)  ,  Qozmo Sneakers - YRU
ACCESSORIES: Custom Cat Eyes - Zenni Optical  ,  A Flamingo Took My Baby! Earrings - c/o Doodad & Fandango  ,  Rainbow Brite Neon Pastel Tattoo Choker - Tunnel Vision  ,  Hot Pink Tattoo Choker & bracelet - c/o Do or Die Mag  ,  "Cheer Up" Necklace & Strawberry Bliss Bracelet- c/o Trixy Starr  ,  Tie Dye Splash Color Shoelaces - c/o We Love Colors

Right, so this outfit is literal perfection... Many oh-so-fab accessories are happening. These pink (prescription) sunglasses?! YES. And my Trixy Starr "Cheer Up" letter necklace?! Seriously... Good job with this ensemble, self.

Now I must continue working on my self-love course!! If you're interested in updates on the course make sure to subscribe to my email list!

I hope you have an excellent beginning of September!

  1. I suppose it only seems jarring to talk about how difficult it is since social media allows us to give off a certain kind of impression that everything is perfect and we don't have bad days- because talking about bad times is really hard! This will probably help someone going through something similar too

  2. To start out - I'm so sorry for your loss. I follow Madeline too and remember when this happened. I think accepting that it will never be ok is the only way to truly come to terms with something as heavy as an unexpected death. Another way is keeping the memory alive, which I'm glad to see you're doing!

  4. I feel really sorry for your friend...I used to follow her blog and I also know how depression takes people away from us so easily. It's hard to accept.
